Even the big guns can get guitar envy! In the late 1970's Eric Clapton saw a picture of a Santa Cruz Guitar in a British magazine and instantly fell in love. So he did what anyone else with a spare $5K would do and wrote to Santa Cruz to see how he could get one.

To quote Richard Hoover from Santa Cruz, ‘Eric loved our FTC model, which is our F body shape, just like an old Gibson Everly Brothers guitar but with a cutaway. It’s has a carved back like an archtop and the top is conventionally braced. So we made this guitar for him in 1980'.

These days you'd simply shoot off an email but back then it was all hand written letters of course. Check it out..!
