    Def a keeper

Over the last couple of months my 808 Artist and I have been getting to know one another, I think it might be love. It plays like a dream, has great tone and when plugged in it steps up to another level, where it matches or exceeds my other more expensive guitars. I am well pleased with my purchase and would certainly buy another Maton [wife permitting !]

    Awesome

I just need to tweak the settings on the AP5 Pro and experiment with my live sound, but overall I am quite pleased. Ordered online and delivery came packaged well and telephone service from staff organising the delivery was great!

They're made with love and pride

I've owned three Cole Clarks and three Maton guitars over the years. Of those six, five have been sold on. The keeper is the Maton EBG808 Artist. No other Australian guitar comes close to it in terms of tonal balance, sustain, quality of build or value for money. If you're looking for a guitar-for-life, this is it. Play it with pride, cradle it with love; it will inspire you.

    Looks are far from deceiving

As the title implies, the guitar sounds as good as it looks and plays great too! I've had mine that i bought from AC for nearly 3 years now and it hasn't let me down yet despite having taken a beating every now and then suffering a few minor dings and dents. Need i say more than what has already been said about the superb AP5 Pro pickups as well as producing a great tone the inbuilt mic also helps in picking up percussive playing on the body which can really add to a performance. Love mine and i wouldn't trade it for the world!

    Fantastic Guitar!!

This guitar is awesome and very comfortable to play. A very nice tone when played acoustically. But when plugged in to a PA, it really comes alive with a very natural rich tone that sets it way apart from any other acoustic guitars plugged in.

    808 is F%#ing GREAT!

While this may be a small bodied guitar, it has excellent midrange, and plugged in, all Matons sound fantastic. I plug directly into a PA mostly when I perform and with the blended mic system the sound hole mic pickup gives me that "real" sound more so than most under bridge pickups. Yoiu've got control of feedback with the blending options. I have the Artist Series so it's got Maton quality with all top grade timbers. The smaller bodied guitar allows you to get in close for finger style and noodling work. Great guitar - Keeper for life.

    Great tone, looks and feel

I'll start off by saying that I haven't played many guitars in my lifetime so my opinion may not be useful for anyone. Aesthetically this is one of the most beautiful guitars I've ever seen, the Victorian blackwood isn't given the justice it deserves by the photos displayed, however they seem to vary in detail in the figuring I have found throughout my research prior to purchasing. Sound wise this thing is great acoustic, but when it is plugged in it shines, with the ability to blend both the mic and the piezo's from the AP5 Pro system allows you to dial in the perfect tone, the mic is also great at picking up the various percussive sounds you can achieve. In terms of reliability I don't think my opinion is useful as i have only had the guitar for a few month, but despite that I have had no problems with the guitar My only concern with this guitar is the way it is setup, when i got it the action was rather high due to a slightly bent neck, so my advice with it is to buy Matons specialised tool and/or to get it professionally set up. Once i had adjusted the neck it played much better and was more enjoyable to play. I plan to play this guitar for the rest of my life. I hope this helps anyone considering buying this beautiful instrument and of course you would be supporting a great Australian business.
