Collings D2H Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar

The Collings D2H Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar is a renowned instrument that embodies the classic square-shouldered 14-fret dreadnought body shape. While this body shape is popular worldwide, Collings brings a new level of tonal clarity to the depth and warmth typically associated with larger guitars. The D2H is characterized by its ability to deliver a robust bass response, making it ideal for vocal accompaniment. It is also favored by bluegrass flatpickers who need to project their sound alongside louder instruments such as banjos and fiddles.

Collings offers a wide range of wood choices and neck sizes, allowing players to find a model that suits their playing style and tonal preferences. The D2H model, in particular, features a classic combination of Sitka spruce top and East Indian rosewood back and sides. The guitar is meticulously crafted with pre-war scalloped bracing, high gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish, and exquisite details like an ebony fingerboard with abalone long diamond and square inlays.

The Collings D2H Dreadnought boasts exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. Its Honduran mahogany neck, bone nut and saddle, and fully adjustable truss rod contribute to its playability and versatility. The guitar's peghead veneer is made of stained exotic ebony, displaying the iconic Collings logo in mother of pearl. The instrument is equipped with Nickel Waverly tuners with a 16:1 gear ratio, ensuring precise and reliable tuning.

Additional features include an ebony belly-style bridge with 2 3/16" spacing, ivoroid body binding with herringbone purfling, tortoise pickguard, and a 2-style backstrip. The scale length is 25 1/2", and the fingerboard has a compound radius ranging from 14" to 26". The Collings D2H comes with a deluxe hardshell case by TKL, providing excellent protection for the instrument.

In summary, the Collings D2H Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar represents a pinnacle of craftsmanship and tonal excellence. Its combination of high-quality tonewoods, meticulous construction, and attention to detail make it a highly sought-after instrument for discerning guitarists. Whether you're playing accompaniment or seeking a powerful sound for bluegrass flatpicking, the Collings D2H delivers exceptional performance and a rich, versatile tonal palette.
