The Lowden 70th Anniversary S-35 is a true work of art, a sublime meeting of acoustics and craftsmanship. It is the culmination of years of passion and a lifetime's exploration at the forefront of guitar-making. As part of a very limited collection of instruments made to celebrate George Lowden's 70th birthday, this guitar is the 6th of only 70 guitars made with the special Roman numerals LXX inlay at the 12th fret on the fretboard.
The S-35 has the S-shape which is ideal for fingerpicking and features book-matched Guatemalan rosewood for the back and sides and a stunning Alpine spruce top. It is able to produce the most subtle colors at the lightest touch, with a responsiveness that allows the guitar to act as an extension of the player. With a dynamic range that is unparalleled, its bass response is full and rich, while the upper registers have a definition that is both sweet and powerful. With the innovative Dolphin purfling, the guitar's sustain truly adds new layers to the musical experience, inspiring in its balance and openness throughout the entire register. The combination of rosewood and spruce give the guitar a rich and complex timbre, while full chords still retain exceptional definition.
