The Banjo Killer is a slope shouldered dreadnought with a premium bearclaw Sitka spruce top and figured mahogany back and sides. The guitar is modeled after Bryan Sutton’s famous Bourgeois dubbed the “Banjo Killer". The fingerboard and belly bridge are figured ziricote wood. The Tor-tis pickguard is handmade, and the bridge pins are ebony with abalone dots. The tuners are Nickel Waverly with ivoroid buttons. Here's what IBMA "Guitar Player of the Year" Bryan Sutton has to say about the guitar: "From the first time I played the Slope-D Bourgeois that would come to be known as the "Banjo Killer", I was amazed at the range of tone and volume the guitar could produce. The guitar always seems to be to able to handle any dynamic level of play. I can hear the guitar clearly in a loud jam session without feeling like I have to overplay and also enjoy a full and sustained tone when I want to play softly.”
Dana Bourgeois has this to say: "The BK Slope D has a deep, broad tone. Through wood selection and voicing, we push it in the direction of a bigger bottom end, a "lush" top end, and greater volume, similar to the characteristics of Bryan's original Banjo Killer. When I first started making slope shouldered dreadnoughts, I went for something as different as possible from the balanced and focused sound of my standard . The Banjo Killer gets me back to that original idea."
This guitar comes personally signed by both Dana Bourgeois and Bryan Sutton in it's original hard case.

Hand made by Andy Allen in the Maton Custom Shop, the W.A. May is a tribute to the late Maton Founder, Bill May. Designed and built to show the artisan skills of Andy Allen and to pay tribute to Bill May, the original and master luthier of Maton. This guitar is a true work of art with tones to match. Immaculate workmanship and incredible sounds emanate from the W.A May guitar.
Bills signature 3 layered deco style headstock sits atop this model proudly as it did on Bills very first Maton guitar (still in the Maton Museum 70 years on). The W A May Features a Solid AAA Sitka Spruce Top with highly figured Fiddleback Blackwood back and sides on the traditional body size, a stunning and so often favoured combination of timber that is truly symbolic of Maton’s Australian heritage. The "AAA" grade Blackwood is intensely figured. It has a warm, full tone with a particularly pleasing mid frequency response and has become a world renowned and sort after tone wood. The Sitka Spruce top delivers clarity and definition whilst maintaining the warmth and overtones of the lows and mids. This timber combination has come to define the Maton tone, one that is balanced and rich and extremely usable in a live situation.
On board AP5 Pro pickup system delivers the ultimate pickup system utilising both a piezo transducer under the bridge in combination with a condenser mic located inside the sound hole. You can isolate or blend both systems to deliver every nuance of your playing to a live audience. On board tonal controls allow further tonal refinement.
Includes a Maton flight case.

Few can deny the intrinsic beauty of the Acoustic Instrument, especially the Acoustic Guitar. The visual beauty of the Tonewoods, the curvaceous shapes and elegant lines of body styles, and the delicate artwork of inlay all coalesce in harmonious interplay with tensioned strings to produce musical promise.
So when we at MESA turned our eyes and ears toward amplifying these sounds, one thing more than any other stood out as an objective; Do No Harm. In its sincerity and perfection, there is no reason to “enhance” the sound of the acoustic guitar, or any other acoustic instrument for that matter, but rather… just reproduce it.
Unlike electric guitar amplifiers that offer myriad enhancements and often complete re-voicings, the acoustic instrument has all the complex harmonic content it could ever need, on-board. All that is required is the accurate reproduction of that beauty.
While staying true to the concept of Do No Harm, few products or companies seem to share this perspective for Acoustic Amplification. And when it comes to the electronic and mechanical components and design needed to fulfill that order, it’s easier said than done. It requires a commitment to using the absolute best components and circuit design dedicated to uncompromising accuracy, purity of sound and the lowest possible extraneous noise.
The ROSETTE line is a dedicated acoustic instrument platform designed not just for acoustic guitars, but also for mandolin, ukulele, violin/fiddle, dulcimer, cello, upright bass and other uniquely acoustic instruments.
Our reverence and appreciation for acoustic instruments guides the designs of the Rosette Series products. Our commitment to produce innovative, reliable and inspiring musical instrument amplification for nearly 50 years, finally includes the incredible world of acoustic instruments. Introducing the Rosette 2x8 combo and the Rosette DI Preamp/Pedal.
