The Martin OM-28 Authentic 1931 is a meticulous recreation of one of the most iconic acoustic guitars in Martin’s history. Based on a rare original once owned by Mike Seeger, this model is handcrafted with a solid Adirondack spruce top and Madagascar rosewood back and sides, offering a full, complex tone with superb clarity and dynamic range. Treated with Martin’s Vintage Tone System (VTS), the OM-28 Authentic 1931 delivers the aged look, feel, and tonal character of a pre-war original right out of the case.
Its Authentic 1931 barrel-and-heel neck profile offers a substantial yet comfortable playing experience, while the 25.4" scale and ebony fingerboard ensure articulate response across every register. Traditional appointments like Golden Era inlays, a vintage gloss finish, and Waverly tuners complete the old-world charm. This guitar is a top-tier choice for players and collectors who demand historical accuracy, superior craftsmanship, and the timeless tone that only Martin can deliver.
This 2015-built model is stunning both visually and tonally - it's the ideal OM in every possible sense! It's been played in just enough to have opened up nicely, and it has the responsive feel and complex tonality of a genuine vintage Martin OM, with gorgeous overtones and a rich, balanced and sophisticated sound that suits any genre you could imagine. There's some very light playwear and a few small surface level dings and scratches if you look very closely, but it's been beautifully cared for. A rarely-seen heirloom instrument, and a playable work of art. Includes original hardshell case.
