Fender HM Strat 'Ice Blue' Preowned 1988

Available at Acoustic Centre Melbourne

In the late ‘80s, heavy metal ruled the airwaves with its blistering solos, anthemic hooks, and flashy style. It was an era of big hair, polished production, and bands like Poison, Mötley Crüe, and Van Halen trading the Sunset Strip for sold-out arena tours. At the heart of this sonic revolution were the shredders, each wielding their weapon of choice—the "superstrat."

These guitars, stripped down and souped up, featured exotic tremolo systems and high-output humbuckers, built for speed and volume. Some were Frankenstein creations, pieced together in garages across America from modified Stratocaster parts. Others were mass-produced imitations trying to capture the lightning in a bottle that defined the era. In 1988, Fender stepped into the fray with a guitar worthy of its iconic headstock: the HM Strat.

The HM Strat was a game-changer, blending Fender's craftsmanship with the demands of metal guitarists. It boasted a sleek, contemporary design, hot-rodded electronics, and a fast-playing neck designed for effortless shredding. This instrument quickly became a favorite among guitar virtuosos pushing the boundaries of speed and technique.

Whether you're reliving the glory days of ‘80s metal or discovering its legacy anew, the HM Strat remains a symbol of innovation and power in the world of electric guitars.

This 1988-built guitar is in good condition for it's age, with plenty of playwear and small dings and scratches, as well as one large chip missing by the neck pickup. It features a Dimarzio 'Super 3' Humbucker in the bridge, Khaler Spyder Tremolo, a Basswood body and a 25' scale length. Includes hardshell case.
