Maton WA May Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar
Hand made by Andy Allen in the Maton Custom Shop, the W.A. May is a tribute to the late Maton Founder, Bill May. Designed and built to show the artisan skills of Andy Allen and to pay tribute to Bill May, the original and master luthier of Maton. This guitar is a true work of art with tones to match. Immaculate workmanship and incredible sounds emanate from the W.A May guitar.
Bills signature 3 layered deco style headstock sits atop this model proudly as it did on Bills very first Maton guitar (still in the Maton Museum 70 years on). The W A May Features a Solid AAA Sitka Spruce Top with highly figured Fiddleback Blackwood back and sides. A stunning and so often favoured combination of timber that is truly symbolic of Maton’s Australian heritage. The "AAA" grade Blackwood is intensely figured. It has a warm, full tone with a particularly pleasing mid frequency response and has become a world renowned and sort after tone wood. The Sitka Spruce top delivers clarity and definition whilst maintaining the warmth and overtones of the lows and mids. This timber combination has come to define the Maton tone, one that is balanced and rich and extremely usable in a live situation.
On board AP5 Pro pickup system delivers the ultimate pickup system utilising both a piezo transducer under the bridge in combination with a condenser mic located inside the sound hole. You can isolate or blend both systems to deliver every nuance of your playing to a live audience. On board tonal controls allow further tonal refinement.
Hiscox flight case included.

Santa Cruz D Model Custom Acoustic Guitar
The Dreadnought: the design that introduced boutique lutherie. In the early 1970’s, it was the rare player who would consider any guitar smaller than a dreadnought. Stellar players were handicapped by the traditional D’s predominate bass and thin trebles. The strength of the typical dreadnought guitar is in its power and volume, which is achieved by the guitar’s large body size. The increased air space also gives the instrument a predisposition to the bass range, an asset to some playing styles and a detriment to others.
The Santa Cruz D Model has a unique tapered bracing, voiced to enhance the midrange and treble without compromising the bass volume. This voicing gives the D Model a more even balance and a greater versatility than traditionally braced dreadnoughts. The Santa Cruz Guitar Company Dreadnought Model was carefully conceived to accommodate the modern player’s need for sophisticated balance with more substance in midrange and treble. To deliver these qualities in the acceptable dreadnought-sized body required a very non-traditional approach, as compared to the factory offerings of the day. Using time honored lutherie skills, SCGC created a Trojan Horse – familiar on the outside, dangerous on the inside. SCGC’s innovative D Model remains a mainstay of artists who require acoustic volume without compromising the quality of higher frequencies.
This Custom Model comes with an amazing Adrondack Spruce top and includes a Santa Cruz hard case.
