SCGC’s concept for the H-13 is to achieve power beyond what would be expected in a small-bodied guitar. Two fundamental lutherie tricks make this possible: a longer string length (more downward pressure at the saddle) and more air space via a deeper body (increased volume and bass response). To place the bridge in the optimal position for power and maintain the longer string length, the neck needs to join the body at the 13th fret. Cool, huh? This is a gorgeous classic with power and presence expected from a much larger instrument. Perfect for aggressive fingerstyle blues and vocal accompaniment, the H-13 feels really sweet to hold.
This custom-ordered H13 is an absolute one-of-a-kind, designed from the ground up and featuring absolutely breathtaking timbers throughout. The star of the show is the superb and highly figured set of Flamed Maple on the back and sides, a tonewood with incredible balance and volume. Santa Cruz has paired this with a sensational Adirondack Spruce top, lending volume and punch to the sound. The result is a guitar with incredible power, which remains sweet and balanced with stunning harmonic complexity. Airondack spruce bracing with hot hide glue construction allows the soundboard to resonate to it's full potential, for a responsive and lively instrument.
Taking as its inspiration the rarely-seen 1935 Gibson Nick Lucas Special model, this guitar features a flamed maple neck with full-body sunburst finish, a 42 Style fingerboard inlay in Mother Of Pearl, and a custom '1929-style' solid peghead design. This particular guitar is over 2 years in the making, and designed to be the ultimate combination of comfort, volume and warmth in a vintage-inspired package, with Santa Cruz's unsurpassed build quality and timber selection. Occasionally due to issues with delivering to remote or unusual destinations, we aren't able to offer free postage. All strings and accessories will be shipped with tracking via courier or Australia Post. Other items including guitars and amplification equipment will be shipped using our courier service providers, with a tracking number and signature on delivery.

We endeavour to show the actual instrument in stock whenever possible, but the guitar in stock may differ slightly from the one shown on our website. Materials used can look different from guitar to guitar, including timber grain and colour, parts colours and finishing. If an instrument is a one-of-a-kind or preowned guitar, the picture will always be of the actual guitar in stock, but production models may have slight variations to the picture shown.
