Produced by the Dopyera brothers after they required the Dobro name in 1970, the OMI-era Dobro guitars were high-quality resonators with premium features. This circa 1978 squareneck resonator has classic Chrome over Brass construction, spider bridge and incredible etching, likely done by the Dopyera's themselves.
The Model 1000 was one of the more luxurious of OMI's offerings, and the etching work is superb. The back of the guitar features an incredible shield logo etching, and the top has incredibly detailed 'lily' etchings. This is the squareneck version of the Dobro famously used by Dickie Betts of Allman Brothers, for his iconic slide guitar work.
It's in great condition, with minor playwear and plenty of patina to the chrome finish, and some brass showing through in places. There's some heavy wear to the back of the neck where the finish has worn away. It's all original, and the sound is fabulous - classic, warm and rich slide tones with real vintage vibe. Includes non-original hardshell case.

Used items have a flat rate shipping fee of $59 within our usual shipping locations. We also offer competitive Express shipping options at checkout.
Customers located in Western Australia, Northern Territory and Far North Queensland recieve free shipping on all accessory orders over $99, but will incur a flat rate instrument or large item shipping charge of $179 (or $299 for Express shipping).
Occasionally due to issues with delivering to remote or unusual destinations, we aren't able to offer free postage. We reserve the right to retract the offer if freight costs exceed 15% of your purchase. We will always notify you if there is an issue and offer a full refund or arrange alternative delivery options.
All strings and accessories will be shipped with tracking via courier or Australia Post. Other items including guitars and amplification equipment will be shipped using our courier service providers, with a tracking number and signature on delivery.
