The most accurate tuning technology available, used by touring techs and studio players. Our Peterson strobe tuners are worth the extra cost if you play alongside other fixed-pitch instruments (piano, synths) or use alternate tunings where precision really matters.
How accurate do I need my tuner to be? Most clip-on and pedal tuners are accurate to within 1 cent (1/100th of a semitone) — plenty for everyday playing. Peterson's strobe tuners go tighter again, which matters most for recording and instruments played alongside fixed-pitch sources.
Clip-on or pedal? If you mainly play acoustic or classical, a clip-on is simpler and cheaper. If you're running an electric rig through a pedalboard, a pedal tuner keeps everything in one signal chain and is easier to see on a dark stage.
Do phone tuner apps work? They're fine for casual practice, but background noise and phone mic quality make them less reliable than a dedicated tuner — especially clip-on tuners, which read vibration rather than sound and aren't affected by room noise at all.
