Collings D1 A HC SB Hill Country Series Dreadnought 'Adirondack / Honduran Mahogany' Preowned 2025

Available at Acoustic Centre Melbourne

Includes Hardshell Case

The Collings D1 A HC is a masterfully voiced dreadnought built for players who crave a warm, woody, and powerful fundamental response. As part of the Hill Country series, this model pushes Collings craftsmanship to the far end of the tonal spectrum, delivering a dry, articulate character with a full, blooming low end that bluegrass players and flatpickers will immediately recognise. Every aspect of the D1 A HC is refined for resonance and responsiveness, from its Adirondack spruce top to its Hill Country–specific scalloped X-bracing and ultra-thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish.

Honduran mahogany back and sides contribute to the guitar’s clarity and punch, while unique Hill Country appointments – including a hand-poured tortoise pickguard, matching rosette ring, heel cap, and an understated peghead with a stamped rear logo – set this model apart aesthetically. The ebony fingerboard and bridge offer smooth playability, and the fully adjustable truss rod, mortise and tenon neck joint, and comfortable Hill Country neck profile ensure long-term stability and feel. With its custom voicing, refined build, and classic Collings precision, the D1 A HC is a world-class dreadnought ready for stage, studio, or lifelong inspiration.

This 2025-built guitar was purchased at the Bryan Sutton Guitar Camp earlier this year, where it was played by Sutton, Julian Lage and Jake Workman. It doesn't take long to figure out why these players were drawn to it - it's one of the greatest mahogany dreadnoughts that we have ever played. Combining the tone of vintage Martin with the power and clarity of modern Collings (not to mention their unparalleled build quality), it could just be the last guitar you would ever need. It's in spectacular condition as you'd expect for a guitar less than a year old, with a couple of light lacquer-level dings and some small pick scratches to the pickguard, but it's not far away from a brand new guitar. The action is a perfect medium with plenty of room to adjust it down further if you'd prefer, but in my opinion it's about as perfect a setup as you'd ever want. A once-in-a-lifetime dreadnought. Includes original hardshell case.
