AUSTRALIA'S #1 ACOUSTIC GUITAR SPECIALIST
The Maton S70 Acoustic Guitar is a refined dreadnought from the Solid Road Series, designed to deliver bold tone and premium feel at an exceptional value. Built in Australia with all-solid woods, the S70 features an A-grade Sitka spruce top paired with solid Tasmanian blackwood back and sides, producing a rich tonal palette that balances crisp treble, warm midrange, and full low-end resonance. Whether you're strumming on stage or picking in the studio, this guitar’s dynamic voice adapts seamlessly to your playing style.
Its scalloped X-bracing ensures enhanced projection and top-end response, while the satin finish allows the wood to breathe and age beautifully over time. The S70’s Queensland maple neck and streaky ebony fingerboard offer a smooth, comfortable playing experience, with chrome Grover tuners keeping things reliably in tune. A black pickguard with Maton’s iconic gold “M” logo and a sapele ring rosette add elegant visual touches to this already impressive instrument.

This guitar performs well above its price tag ,well made and simple in appearance it’s exactly what I wanted.Big tone with plenty of clarity really holds up against more expensive imports . Great communication and service from Acoustic Centre ,my S70 arrived safely in Tasmania packed beautifully.
The S70: The first time I played a Maton was in the 1980's as a Uni Student. At the time I thought it was the best guitar I had played. Alas as a poor student it stayed in the shop. Moving on 40 or so years I have finally bought a Maton Acoustic. This thing is astounding. Yes it may not be their top of line model, however the tone is a thing to behold. I have had it a few weeks before writing this review. The thing I love about it is clearly its tone, plus it has great volume. When it arrived from the shop I checked it against the Maton published specs. The neck relief was out (quite a bit) which I put down to the newness of the guitar and shipping effects. (The Maton website says that relief will alter over the first month or so and need to be adjusted until it settles). So I secured a Maton truss rod adjuster and put it back into spec. The action was then as per the Maton specs. Like many guitar manufacturers they need to set action for "every player" which means it may be a little high. If considering buying this guitar the action might need adjusting to your style - not unusual for any guitar. I do not live close to the Acoustic Centre and took the risk of buying after talking with Ryan at the shop. I must say Ryan was outstanding. He took several phone calls and emails from me over a few days and was very helpful indeed. So the bottom line is the Maton S70 is a great guitar and in my opinion worth having. Is it better or worse than other Maton's ? Don't know but most likely it is just different. Is it worth considering as a good choice at this price point? Absolutely. If you are looking to buy in this price range this guitar needs to be on your short list of choices. If you have a choice of where to buy, I highly recommend the Acoustic Centre and the service provided. For reference; my background in guitars, been playing for a very long time, I own several guitars including a Maton electric, a number of other 'classic' electrics a 12 string acoustic and a semi-acoustic.
Terrific guitar, light weight feel but delivers a warm, clear sound. Appreciated the assistance given by Dan. I was trying to decide between this guitar & the S60. Dan gave me advice & information for both guitars & then left me alone to play the guitars & make a decision at my leisure. I really enjoyed that approach. Thanks
Great price, great setup and great delivery. What more ca I say but enjoying my purchase immensely!

If you want a serious guitar on a budget this is it. Nothing fancy, no add ones, just an honest, great sounding guitar. The neck feels fantastic, and the tone is great.
