Martin 0-18K Preowned 1934

Available at Acoustic Centre Melbourne

Includes Hardshell Case

This 1934 Martin 0-18K is a beautifully preserved example of Martin’s early koa-bodied craftsmanship, offering the warm, shimmering voice that made these Hawaiian-influenced instruments so coveted. Built with koa for the top, back, and sides, it delivers a uniquely airy midrange with sweet trebles and a responsive, woody character that shines in fingerstyle, blues, and old-time accompaniment. The comfortable 24.9" scale and 1 7/8" nut give it a classic prewar feel, complemented by its light build and lively resonance.

Thoughtfully restored for longevity and musicality, this example has been refinished, received a neck reset, and had its maple bridgeplate along with its nut and ivory saddle replaced. It retains prized original features including its bar frets, ebony truss rod, and Waverly WG-31 tuners, it remains a historically significant and exceptionally playable prewar Martin. As you'd expect there are numerous small dings and lacquer-level scratches, and the centre seam on the top and back have moved slightly creating a gap in the lacquer; it doesn't appear to have separated the glue seam, and should be stable for years to come. The action is just a hair higher than medium, but it plays like butter and is buzz-free all the way up the neck. The tone is superb - sweet, warm and musical, and a fingerpickers dream! Includes non-original case.
