The Gibson Les Paul Junior 'Ebony' Electric Guitar is a true icon that returns to the classic design that has been relevant, played, and loved for generations. This guitar pays tribute to Gibson's Golden Era of innovation and authenticity. Introduced in 1954 as an affordable option for students and beginners, the Les Paul Junior has been embraced by musicians for over 60 years. Its single cutaway slab mahogany body, single dogear P-90 pickup, and straightforward single volume and tone controls all add up to create a guitar that's greater than the sum of its parts. The fat 50's-style neck profile and wraparound bridge contribute to its rock-solid tone.
The Gibson Les Paul Junior has been adding a cool, straightforward vibe to the world of rock music since 1954, and over half a century later, it's still a favorite among players everywhere. Crafted from solid mahogany and finished in classic nitrocellulose lacquer, this Junior delivers an impressively rich and detailed tone. Its vintage '50s neck is a joy to play, and the unmistakable sound of the P-90 pickup is truly special. Under the hood, the control assembly is handwired with matched potentiometers and Orange Drop capacitors. Experience the essence of rock with the Gibson Les Paul Junior.
Gibson's first successful single-coil pickup, the P-90, can be heard on countless classic recordings. Its biting treble and high output are known for cleaning up beautifully when you roll back your guitar's volume pot. This pickup is incredibly versatile, offering its unique brand of grit—a bit brighter, leaner, and less refined than a humbucker, yet almost as hot. When you hit your amp hard, the P-90 wails with raw power. Plugged into a proper high-gain tube amp, you can evoke grind, sizzle, and bark that would be impossible with humbuckers or other single-coils. For historical context, listen to Santana's fiery Woodstock performance or The Who's masterful "Live at Leeds" album.
