Before his retirement, John McGrath was known as one of Australia's finest luthiers. Wiith a great knowledge of and respect for the golden era of iconic American acoustic guitars, McGrath handcrafted his guitars with clean, detailed workmanship which beautifully complimented the flawless timbers he selected for each instrument. Some of the world's finest musicians have hunted and collected his instruments, including David Lindley, Don Henley, Timothy B. Schmidt and Colin Hay - rarified company indeed. Rarely seen on the used market, this is the first McGrath we've seen instore for many years.
Based around a classic Martin 0-28, this jaw-dropping small-bodied guitar features the classic combination of Sitka Spruce and Indian Rosewood, for a sound that instantly brings to mind the great pre-war American-made parlour guitars. The craftsmanship throughout is flawless, and the playability is fantastic. The tone is rich and detailed, with a surprising amount of volume and power for such a small instrument. The bass is round and piano-like, with stunning clarity and plenty of character. It's in great condition too, with minor playwear and no issues whatsoever. A stunning handmade Australian guitar from a sadly missed luthier. Includes hardshell case.
Acoustic Centre offers free shipping on all new items to most locations within Australia on all orders over $99, excluding Western Australia, Northern Territory and Far North Queensland. Used items have a flat rate shipping fee of $59 within our usual shipping locations. We also offer competitive Express shipping options at checkout.
Customers located in Western Australia, Northern Territory and Far North Queensland recieve free shipping on all accessory orders over $99, but will incur a flat rate instrument or large item shipping charge of $179 (or $299 for Express shipping).
Occasionally due to issues with delivering to remote or unusual destinations, we aren't able to offer free postage. We reserve the right to retract the offer if freight costs exceed 15% of your purchase. We will always notify you if there is an issue and offer a full refund or arrange alternative delivery options.
All strings and accessories will be shipped with tracking via courier or Australia Post. Other items including guitars and amplification equipment will be shipped using our courier service providers, with a tracking number and signature on delivery.
