Altamira Sor III Lacote Romantic Classical Guitar

The Altamira Sor model is an intimate 19th century guitar honouring the great René François Lacôte (1785–1855). Lacote was a Romantic guitar luthier from Paris, France and his guitars were played by guitarists such as Fernando Sor, Ferdinando Carulli, Dionisio Aguado, Napoléon Coste, and Marco Aurelio Zani de Ferranti.

Musicologist René Vannes referred to Lacôte as the "Stradivarius of the guitar" in his book Universal Dictionary of Luthiers. The great Fernando Sor, who this model is named after, mentioned in his book Méthode pour la Guitare that "M. Lacote, a French maker, the only person who, besides his talents, has proved to me that he possesses the quality of not being inflexible to reasoning".

The Altamira Sor model is perfect for musicians playing 19th-century music by Fernando Sor or Mauro Giuliani and inspired by the subtle and nuanced tone of period instruments.

Built entirely by hand in Altamira's incredible Hansen Workshop, this model has been played in concerts by the world’s leading classical guitar maestros such as Ricardo Gallen and Pavel Steidl. Hanson’s instruments are made with meticulous attention to detail, and tailored to musicians’ exact requirements and specification requests.
