Altamira Torres 7/8 Classical Guitar

Available at Acoustic Centre Melbourne

The Altamira Torres is a lovingly crafted tribute to Antonio de Torres Jurado, widely regarded as the most important guitar maker of the nineteenth century and the father of the modern classical guitar. Based on Torres' SE114 of 1888, this 7/8 fractional model recreates the intimate, immediate tonal character and refined aesthetic of the original - a guitar built in the tradition of the Romantic era, when Torres' revolutionary fan bracing method transformed the guitar from a parlour curiosity into a serious concert instrument. The slightly smaller body dimensions and narrower 50mm nut width make this an ideal instrument for students with smaller hands, younger players transitioning into classical guitar, or adult players who prefer a more intimate scale and body feel without sacrificing authentic Torres character.

The solid spruce top and Torres-style fan bracing produce the immediate, clear, and delicate acoustic voice with an abundant range of tonal colours that made Torres guitars so celebrated among players of Romantic period Spanish repertoire - Tárrega, Llobet, and their contemporaries. Ideal for guitarists exploring the historical sound of nineteenth century Spain, teachers seeking a quality fractional instrument for developing students, and players drawn to the intimacy, punchiness, and sweetness of the traditional Torres voice in a more accessible body size.
