The Atkin Essential D Custom is a guitar that captures the essence of classic acoustic design, offering a unique blend of vintage warmth and modern precision. Handcrafted in Canterbury, England, each Atkin guitar is built with a focus on craftsmanship, tonal integrity, and lasting playability. The Essential D is a stripped-down masterpiece that embodies 100% Atkin tone. Usually featuring a baked Sitka top, we've chosen to upgrade this one with an Adirondack spruce top, braced with pre-war scalloped bracing, to deliver a remarkable open sound with a big, powerful low end that is hard to match. The mahogany back and sides provide a perfect balance of warmth and clarity, while the mahogany neck and ebony fingerboard enhance the guitar’s smooth playability and vintage feel.

The Essential D Custom takes inspiration from the legendary Martin D-18, offering a truly distinctive sound that stands apart from other traditional builders. The super-thin aged lacquer finish and Atkin's unique bracing result in an instrument that is both open-sounding and dynamic. With its 'Aged' finish, this guitar is a timeless workhorse perfect for songwriters and performers who require a versatile, reliable, and resonant instrument for any musical environment. Whether you’re playing on stage or in the studio, the Atkin Essential D Custom is built to inspire for years to come.
