The Baranik Retreux Parlour is a genuinely extraordinary small-body acoustic guitar from the workshop of Mike Baranik - a California luthier of exceptional refinement and reputation who has been building custom acoustic guitars since 1997, displaying at Healdsburg, Newport, Woodstock, and NAMM and growing his following entirely by word of mouth and the quality of the instruments themselves. Baranik attended the Roberto-Venn School of Luthery in 1993, served an apprenticeship under John Reuter, and has spent nearly three decades developing the kind of exacting personal standards and exotic tonewood relationships that produce instruments like this one - a parlour guitar so tonally surprising and visually magnificent that it defies every expectation the body size might set.

The wide-grain Adirondack spruce top is one of the most prized and tonally immediate acoustic tonewoods available - stiff, responsive, and naturally projecting in a way that other spruces can only approximate. Paired with an extraordinarily rare set of fiddleback mahogany back and sides, the Retreux Parlour produces a tone that is sweet, woody, and organically reverberant, with a natural warmth and soulful character that belies its compact dimensions entirely. An open side port draws the player into the guitar for a more immediate and immersive playing experience. The 1-3/4" nut width and 2-1/4" bridge spacing make this one of the most comfortable parlour guitars available for fingerstyle playing specifically, while gold EVO fretwire, ebony fingerboard, Schertler tuners with ebony buttons, rosewood headstock, and brown swirl acrylic accent with black binding and black/flame maple/black purfling reflect a level of material selection and decorative refinement entirely consistent with a world-class custom shop instrument. 

This incredible luthier-built guitar is in incredible condition, with barely any playwear and one very minor lacquer ding between the E and A tuners on the back of the headstock. It's featherweight and incredibly resonant, and notes just pour out of the guitar at the lightest touch. It's incredibly rare to find a true parlour with such an enormous voice, and is testament to the skill of the luthier and the exceptional timbers used throughout.
