Inspired by a visit to the workshop of celebrated English luthier Andy Manson in 2006, John Buckham has spent nearly two decades refining a personal approach to guitar building that combines 21st century materials science with the finest traditions of hand lutherie - every neck carved by hand and eye using rasps, files, scrapers, and sandpaper, with no CNC machining involved at any stage of construction.

The tonal heart of this orchestra model is a European spruce top over Australian Blackwood back and sides - Blackwood harvested personally by the luthier from a single tree on a dairy farm on the Comboyne Plateau west of Wauchope, selected specifically for its lower density relative to other Blackwood sets, a deliberate choice that contributes to the overall efficiency of the vibrating system and results in greater volume and tonal richness. The bridge departs from the guitar's appointment scheme, built instead from the same figured Blackwood as the back and sides - a beautifully considered decision that reflects both aesthetic integrity and acoustic purpose. Curly Yarran - a desert acacia and one of the hardest woods on the planet - provides the binding and appointment work, while genuine old growth Brazilian mahogany forms the neck.

Beneath the hood lies what makes a Buckham guitar truly remarkable: John's personal interpretation of falcate bracing, a system designed by renowned luthier and researcher Trevor Gore that replaces traditional X-bracing with curved, laminated bracing elements incorporating carbon fibre.
