The Cole Clark AN2EC Blackwood is an all-Australian tonewood Grand Auditorium cutaway that showcases the remarkable sonic and visual character of AA-grade Australian Blackwood in its most complete form - top, back, and sides all crafted from the same carefully selected timber, producing a tonal and aesthetic identity of genuine cohesion and distinction. Australian Blackwood is a tonewood of exceptional character - a close relative of Hawaiian Koa that shares many of its most celebrated qualities, delivering a warm, complex, and harmonically rich voice with a natural shimmer and midrange depth that sets it apart from any spruce, cedar, or mahogany alternative. In the AN2 series, Cole Clark's internally carved top and back allow both surfaces to resonate with maximum freedom, significantly enhancing the Blackwood's natural acoustic response and contributing to the instrument's characteristically open and dynamic tonal character.

The Grand Auditorium cutaway body delivers the ideal balance between projection, clarity, and upper-fret access, while Cole Clark's PG3 True Acoustic pickup system captures the full acoustic voice of the Blackwood with three independently calibrated sensors - undersaddle piezo, face sensor, and internal microphone - for genuinely natural and transparent amplified performance in any live or recording context. Inlaid timber binding, purfling, and rosette, abalone dot inlays, Grover machine heads, Graph Tech TUSQ nut and saddle, and nitrocellulose natural satin finish reflect Cole Clark's consistent commitment to quality Australian tonewoods and considered appointments at every level. Supplied in Cole Clark's iconic tweed hardcase with pickguard. Ideal for performing singer-songwriters, fingerstyle players, and anyone who wants a genuinely all-Australian acoustic-electric with the warm, complex tonal character that only Blackwood construction can deliver.

Features

  • All-solid AA-grade Australian Blackwood top, back, and sides with internally carved top and back delivers a warm, complex, and harmonically rich acoustic voice with natural shimmer and midrange depth - the tonal character of a close relative of Hawaiian Koa in a fully cohesive all-Blackwood construction.
  • Cole Clark PG3 True Acoustic pickup system uses three independently calibrated sensors - undersaddle piezo, face sensor, and internal microphone - to capture the full acoustic voice of the Blackwood with exceptional transparency and natural character for live performance and recording.
  • Internally carved top and back allow both surfaces to resonate with maximum freedom, significantly enhancing the Blackwood's natural acoustic response and contributing to the AN2EC's characteristically open, projecting, and dynamically responsive tonal character.
  • Grand Auditorium cutaway body combines excellent projection and tonal balance with comfortable upper-fret access - a practical and versatile format well-suited to performing musicians across a wide range of playing styles.
  • Nitrocellulose natural satin finish allows the Blackwood tonewoods to resonate freely while showcasing their natural grain and figure, contributing to a more open acoustic response than a thick gloss finish permits.
