The Cole Clark FL2EC Blackwood/Blackwood Humbucker Acoustic Electric Guitar is an exceptional instrument that combines the great tone of the Fat Lady 1 series with additional features and versatility. This model features a solid Blackwood top, solid Blackwood back and sides, and a cutaway design for improved access to higher frets. The guitar also includes body binding and pearl-style snowflake inlays, adding to its aesthetic appeal.
One of the standout features of the FL2EC Blackwood/Blackwood model is the inclusion of a Lollar Imperial humbucker in the bridge position, alongside the Cole Clark 3-way pickup system. The humbucker is mounted in a block, and the knobs have a thicker top under them. This setup allows players to have separate outputs for clean and distorted sounds, making it suitable for various musical styles and performance scenarios. This feature was introduced to address the limitations of sound hole pickups often used by artists, providing a better solution for achieving a dirt sound without sacrificing the clean tone. The humbucker and pickup system offer excellent performance and versatility, allowing players to blend or switch between the two sounds.
In terms of specifications, the FL2EC Blackwood/Blackwood is a cutaway dreadnought with an internally carved top and back. It features a Queensland Maple neck, a solid Australian Blackwood top, and Australian Blackwood back and sides. The guitar boasts inlaid timber binding, purfling, and rosette for added visual appeal. The bridge and fretboard are made of Blackbean and Blackwood, respectively. The inlays on this model consist of snowflake patterns, and it is equipped with Grover machine heads for precise tuning. The nut and saddle are crafted from Graph Tech Tusq, and the guitar comes strung with Phosphor Bronze 12-53 strings. The nut width measures 44mm (1.73 inches), providing comfortable playability.
The Cole Clark FL2EC Blackwood/Blackwood Humbucker Acoustic Electric Guitar offers exceptional sound quality, playability, and versatility. With its solid tonewoods, innovative pickup system, and attention to detail, this guitar is suitable for a wide range of musical genres and playing styles. Whether you're performing on stage or recording in the studio, the FL2EC Blackwood/Blackwood delivers impressive tonal capabilities and excellent performance.
All of our Cole Clarks have been PLEKed!
PLEK machines are built and sold by A+D Gitarrentechnologie of Berlin, Germany. The machines were developed by musician and guitar instructor Gerd Anke with his partner Michael Dubach, who called their company PLEKTRON when it was founded in 1990. The goal of the PLEK process they created is to guarantee the best possible string action for each instrument. Simply put, a guitar with optimized playability sounds better. The strings do not strike the frets during playing and any intonation problems that may occur due to too-low string action are eliminated. Similarly, action that’s too high is also a thing of the past with PLEKing.
The PLEKing process is done by CNC (computer numerical control) machines, which use microprocessors to perform their tasks. That doesn’t mean human craftspeople are excluded from this process. The PLEK machine is ultimately a tool to reduce variances between guitars, which allows Cole Clarks expert builders to do their jobs more efficiently.
