The Collings 470 JL is a masterpiece born from the collaboration between Collings and virtuoso Julian Lage. Following the success of the Collings OM1 JL, this electric guitar represents a culmination of meticulous design, engineering, and player feedback, resulting in a truly unique instrument.
Crafted with a fully hollow body featuring a trestle block, the 470 JL combines a solid Honduran mahogany body with a maple laminate top, ensuring a rich, resonant tone. The guitar’s construction reflects a deep commitment to both aesthetics and functionality, with features tailored to Julian Lage’s exacting standards.
The 470 JL boasts a Honduran mahogany neck with an ebony fingerboard, elegantly bound with non-grained ivoroid and graduated pearl dot inlays. Its 12" radius offers a smooth playing experience, complemented by medium nickel-silver frets and a 24 7/8" scale length. The guitar is equipped with Ron Ellis Ellisonic pickups, custom adjustable to suit a wide range of tonal preferences, and is wired with DiMarzio 500K pots and Jupiter Vintage Yellow capacitors.
Visual and functional details include a Bigsby B3 vibrato tailpiece, a high gloss, lightly aged 'Antiqued' nitrocellulose lacquer finish, and vintage-style relic nickel Waverly tuners with oval buttons. It comes housed in a deluxe Ameritage hardshell case.
