Handbuilt in September 2008 and recently rebuilt by David Worthy himself to align with his current build standards, this Sunbeam is a fine example of Australian luthiery. The Sunbeam is a small-body, 12-fret design derived from David Worthy's Vintage model, prized for its deep, resonant voice and exceptional sensitivity, with a Sitka spruce top paired to highly figured, quilted Queensland maple back and sides that deliver rich fundamentals and complex overtones.
As part of the rebuild, the guitar received new bracing, new binding, a full refret, and a respray, all carried out by David Worthy to his modern voicing and structural standards. The Fijian mahogany neck is reinforced with carbon fibre for stability, while the ebony fretboard and bridge add clarity and articulation, making this Sunbeam ideal for fingerstyle players, particularly those working in open tunings, who want a genuinely responsive, expressive instrument with a documented history.
