The Fender Custom Shop Limited 1962 Stratocaster Journeyman Relic is a masterwork from Fender's Corona, California custom shop - a guitar built to recreate the look, feel, and tonal character of a well-loved early 1960s Stratocaster with the nuance and authenticity that only Fender's finest craftsmen can deliver. Completed on 25 June 2021 with Journeyman Relic finishing - a level of aged distressing that sits between the light wear of a Closet Classic and the heavy relicing of a Full Relic, producing a guitar that looks and feels genuinely played-in without being excessively worn.

The alder body is built to the 60 Strat specification and finished in aged Aztec Gold nitrocellulose lacquer, and delivers the worn, resonant character of a guitar that has spent decades in regular use. Three hand-wound Bone Tone pickups - neck, middle, and bridge - are routed through a Strat 1/2 blender relay gold control assembly, and the maple rift-sawn neck features a 60 Style oval C profile with 7.25-9.50 compound radius, 21 frets and a dark tint nitrocellulose finish.

This incredible Strat sounds as good as it looks - it's clear and spanky but with a surprising amount of low end punch, and genuinely has the feel of a vintage guitar. This has instantly become something of a staff favourite and is guaranteed to turn heads! It's playing wonderfully and includes all original case candy, and it's original hardshell case. An incredible vintage reproduction with player-oriented upgrades and jaw-dropping looks.

Features

  • Alder body built to the 60 Strat specification with 2-piece sort and nitrocellulose lacquer aged colour finish delivers the resonant, characterful tonal foundation of an early 1960s Stratocaster - warm, articulate, and alive with vintage character.
  • Three hand-wound bone tone pickups - neck, middle, and bridge - provide the clear, glassy, and dynamically expressive single-coil Stratocaster voice of the early 1960s, routed through a 1/2 blender relay gold control assembly for expanded tonal versatility.
  • Maple rift-sawn neck with 60 Style oval C profile, 7.25-9.50 compound radius, and dark tint nitrocellulose finish recreates the comfortable, vintage-accurate playing feel of the original 1962 Stratocaster with exceptional authenticity.
  • Journeyman Relic finishing delivers a carefully calibrated level of aged distressing - more than a Closet Classic, less than a Full Relic - producing a guitar that feels genuinely broken-in and worn without looking excessively aged.
  • Gold hardware throughout including C/S vintage Stratocaster relay gold bridge, vintage Fender logo relay gold tuners, and gold control assembly reflect the Limited specification's elevated hardware appointments.
