The Cole Clark FL2EC-BLBL-HUM is one of the most genuinely original and versatile acoustic-electric instruments Cole Clark has produced - a Fat Lady dreadnought cutaway built entirely from solid Australian Blackwood that adds a Lollar Imperial humbucker to the company’s celebrated PG3 three-way acoustic pickup system, delivering two completely independent outputs and the ability to run simultaneously into an acoustic amplifier and an electric guitar amp or amp simulator. The concept emerged directly from Cole Clark’s observation of touring performers who had been retrofitting electric pickups into their acoustic guitars to access a dirty, electric tone - an approach that compromised both the rosette and the tonal position of the pickup. Cole Clark’s solution is far more elegant: a factory-fitted Lollar Imperial at the bridge position, mounted on the face with dedicated volume and tone controls, running to a completely separate output jack from the PG3 acoustic system.

The result is an instrument of extraordinary performing versatility - clean acoustic tone through one output, raw electric guitar tone through the other, or both simultaneously in any combination a performer can imagine. The all-solid Australian Blackwood construction - top, back, and sides, with Cole Clark’s internally carved top and back - delivers the characteristic Blackwood tonal signature that sits between rosewood and Koa in character: warm, rich, and complex, with a naturally projecting midrange and a resonant low end that suits everything from fingerstyle to hard strumming and percussive playing. Cole Clark PG3 three-way acoustic pickup system, She Oak fingerboard, bridge, and snowflake inlays, inlaid timber binding, purfling and rosette, Graph Tech TUSQ nut and saddle, Grover tuners, and nitrocellulose natural satin finish complete an instrument of genuine tonal and creative ambition. Supplied in Cole Clark’s iconic tweed hardcase with pickguard.

Features

  • All-solid Australian Blackwood construction - top, back, and sides - with Cole Clark’s internally carved top and back delivers the characteristic warm, rich, and resonant Blackwood tonal signature with the acoustic freedom and natural character that distinguishes all Cole Clark instruments.
  • Lollar Imperial humbucker at bridge position with dedicated volume and tone controls on the face and a completely separate output jack enables a genuine, uncompromised electric guitar tone - running independently from or simultaneously with the acoustic pickup system.
  • Cole Clark PG3 three-way acoustic pickup system (undersaddle piezo, face sensor, internal microphone) provides the transparent, natural acoustic-electric tone on its own dedicated output, preserving the full character of the Blackwood body alongside the humbucker’s electric capabilities.
  • Dual output configuration enables endless performing combinations: pure acoustic tone, pure electric tone, both simultaneously into two separate signal chains, or blended in whatever proportion a performer requires - one instrument covering more sonic ground than virtually any other acoustic-electric available.
  • She Oak fingerboard, bridge, and snowflake inlays, inlaid timber binding and purfling, Grover machine heads, Graph Tech TUSQ nut and saddle, and natural satin nitrocellulose finish reflect Cole Clark’s consistent commitment to quality Australian tonewoods and considered appointments.
