AUSTRALIA'S #1 ACOUSTIC GUITAR SPECIALIST
AUSTRALIA'S #1 ACOUSTIC GUITAR SPECIALIST
The Gibson ES-175 is one of the most historically significant and enduringly respected archtop electric guitars ever produced, first introduced in 1949 and played by some of the greatest jazz guitarists of the twentieth century including Joe Pass, Pat Metheny, and Herb Ellis. This 2006 example presents in great condition with a particularly striking highly flamed maple top, back, and sides — a visual distinction that sets it apart from standard production examples and reflects the natural figuring that makes each ES-175 genuinely individual. The fully hollow single-cutaway laminated maple body delivers the warm, woody, and deeply resonant archtop tone the 175 is celebrated for, with the natural finish allowing the spectacular flame figure to speak for itself without the visual overlay of a sunburst or opaque colour.
Fitted with dual humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions, this D configuration provides the tonal versatility to cover everything from warm, full jazz chord voicings to cutting single-note lines, with the parallel wiring and hollow body construction contributing to the ES-175's characteristically smooth, singing midrange and refined high-end response.
This 2006-built guitar is in fantastic condition, with minimal playwear and an incredibly-flamed set of Big Leaf Maple! It's currently set up with a medium action and Thomastik flat wound strings, for the ultimate smooth jazz tone. Ideal for jazz players, blues guitarists, and serious collectors who want a genuinely iconic American archtop electric in an exceptional example with outstanding figured tonewoods. Includes original hardshell case.
