The Gibson Murphy Lab 1960 Hummingbird captures the unmistakable character of one of Gibson’s most influential acoustic designs, brought to life with the authentic look, feel, and response of a well-loved vintage original. Introduced in 1960 as Gibson’s first square-shouldered acoustic, the Hummingbird quickly became a defining voice of a new musical era. This Murphy Lab edition features a thermally aged Sitka spruce top paired with mahogany back and sides, delivering the dry, woody warmth and balanced projection that made the original models legendary.
Finished in Light Aged Heritage Cherry Sunburst, this guitar benefits from Murphy Lab’s meticulous ageing process, recreating decades of gentle play wear without sacrificing structural integrity or performance. Subtle finish checking, lightly aged hardware, and a comfortably rounded mahogany neck give this instrument an unmistakably broken-in feel. Designed for players who value historic tone, visual authenticity, and premium craftsmanship, the 1960 Hummingbird Murphy Lab stands as a faithful tribute to Gibson’s Golden Era acoustics.
This 2024-built guitar is one of the best Hummingbirds that we've ever seen, vintage or otherwise. It's full of character and charm, with a warm, thick and soulful tone that makes it hard to put down. The playability is superb and it's featherlight, and the subtle aging is incredibly convincing and gives the guitar a beautifully played-in feel. Because of the aged finish it's hard to say what wear is original, but it's clearly been very well looked-after. The perfect blend of vintage character and modern build quality! Includes original hardshell case.

Used instruments fall outside of our usual shipping policy, and shipping to most addresses will be $69 - $99, as shown at checkout.

Free standard Australia Post shipping on all accessories over $99 Australia-wide. Express shipping is available for an additional $15. Orders below $99 incur a flat rate shipping charge of $11.

All strings and accessories will be shipped with tracking via courier or Australia Post. Other items including guitars and amplification equipment will be shipped using our courier service providers, with a tracking number and signature on delivery. Please note that all instruments, amplifiers and large items will require a signature on delivery. We cannot give authority to leave an item without a signature unless we have the purchasers written authority to do so.
