The Guild D-55E is a legendary dreadnought that combines over five decades of tradition with modern refinements for today’s players. Originally introduced in 1968 as a custom-order flagship, the D-55 quickly gained a reputation for its powerful projection and elegant appointments, earning a permanent place in Guild’s lineup by the mid-1970s. This latest version continues the legacy with premium tonewoods and construction details that make it one of Guild’s most iconic instruments.
Featuring a AAA Sitka spruce top paired with solid Indian rosewood back and sides, the D-55E produces a bold, resonant tone with shimmering highs, rich lows, and exceptional balance. Scalloped Adirondack bracing enhances responsiveness, while the mahogany neck with walnut center seam ensures stability and comfort. Elegant appointments like abalone/pearl V-block inlays, multi-line purfling, and the “Peak and Shield” headstock inlay reflect its high-end heritage. Complete with a nitrocellulose finish, premium humidified hardshell case, and optional LR Baggs electronics, the D-55E is built for discerning players who demand uncompromising sound and craftsmanship.
This incredible 2021-built guitar demonstrates why the D-55 is so sought after - rich, booming and punchy tone with an enormous dynamic range and jaw-dropping looks. This one is an absolute cannon, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a dreadnought with more bass, with a tonal profile somewhere between a D-28 and D-35. It's in great condition, with minimal playwear and a perfect medium action, and the onboard factory-installed LR Baggs Anthem pickup is a great choice for such a powerful dreadnought. A staff favourite! Includes original hardshell case.

Customers located in Western Australia, Northern Territory and Far North Queensland recieve free shipping on all accessory orders over $99, but will incur a flat rate instrument or large item shipping charge of $179 (or $299 for Express shipping).
Used instruments fall outside of our usual shipping policy, and shipping to most addresses will be $69 - $99, as shown at checkout.
Occasionally due to issues with delivering to remote or unusual destinations, we aren't able to offer free postage. We reserve the right to retract the offer if freight costs exceed 15% of your purchase. We will always notify you if there is an issue and offer a full refund or arrange alternative delivery options.
All strings and accessories will be shipped with tracking via courier or Australia Post. Other items including guitars and amplification equipment will be shipped using our courier service providers, with a tracking number and signature on delivery.
