The Atkin J43, "The Forty Three", is a powerful homage to the iconic Gibson J-45, blending classic vintage character with modern precision and craftsmanship. Handcrafted in Canterbury, England, it's built with a solid mahogany body combined with a baked (torrefied) Sitka spruce top that produces a sound reminiscent of a well-played vintage instrument, while the mahogany neck and Indian rosewood fingerboard add further warmth and richness to the tone.
A shorter scale length and pre-war scalloped bracing give the Forty Three exceptional warmth and projection, and its classic round-shoulder dreadnought shape, paired with an Indian rosewood bridge and tortoise-style pickguard, evokes a genuinely timeless aesthetic. The subtle aged lacquer finish adds a touch of history, and this guitar is ideal for players chasing a vintage J-45 style tone across folk, blues or country, with all of Atkin's signature quality and attention to detail built in.
