The Lowden F-50 is one of the most tonally magnificent and materially distinguished acoustic guitars produced anywhere in the world - a flagship instrument from George Lowden's studio workshops in Downpatrick, Northern Ireland, built by a selected team of skilled craftsmen under his direct supervision after over four decades of design and innovation that has made Lowden one of the most revered names in fine acoustic guitar making. This 2017 example, dated 13 February 2017, represents the F-50 at its most exceptional - a guitar built with master-grade tonewoods of extraordinary rarity and tonal complexity, and a custom bevel specification that elevates both the playing comfort and visual character of an already extraordinary instrument.

Master-grade African Blackwood back and sides is the defining tonal and visual statement of this guitar - one of the most prized and tonally complex back and sides materials in contemporary lutherie, producing a voice of exceptional richness, harmonic depth, and natural brilliance with the density and sustain that only the finest Blackwood can deliver. Master-grade Adirondack spruce soundboard adds the stiffest, most naturally projecting and tonally immediate top wood available anywhere, and the combination of these two master-grade materials produces an acoustic voice of breathtaking authority and complexity. Highly figured Tasmanian Blackwood binding with rosewood/maple/mahogany purflings frames the instrument in a visually cohesive and deeply beautiful appointment package that honours the extraordinary tonewoods within. The custom bevel adds playing comfort while contributing a distinctive and refined aesthetic, the 5-piece mahogany and rosewood neck with GL Standard profile provides a supremely comfortable playing feel, and the ebony fingerboard with ebony and maple binding, GOTOH Gold 510 tuners with ebony buttons, and 650mm scale length complete a guitar that is as perfect in its construction detail as in its tonal ambition.

This 2017-built guitar is in stunning condition, with minimal playwear and a couple of very minor dings on the lower bout binding on the back of the guitar. It sounds absolutely enormous, and plays wonderfully. Guitars like this don't appear on teh used market very often, and this one is stellar! Includes original hardshell case.
