This 1921 Martin 0-18K is a beautifully preserved example of Martin’s early 20th-century craftsmanship, featuring the distinctive tone and aesthetic of all-koa construction. Lightweight, resonant, and incredibly responsive, this small-body Martin delivers a clear, articulate voice with a dry, woody character that suits fingerstyle, ragtime, blues, and early folk styles perfectly. The 0 body size provides a focused, intimate sound with surprising projection for its dimensions, making it equally rewarding for both home playing and recording.

Remarkably original, this guitar remains all-original throughout, aside from its case, a rare and highly desirable attribute for an instrument of this era. The koa top, back, and sides have matured beautifully over more than a century, contributing to a warm, complex tonal response with excellent note separation and harmonic richness. As an authentic pre-war Martin built during the company’s formative years, this 0-18K represents a special opportunity to own a historically significant instrument that continues to deliver inspiring musical performance.

The condition of this guitar is really incredible - it appears to be completely original, crack-free and without the common bellying issue we see on guitars such as this. Purchased new at LF Collins in Melbourne back in 1921, it's been meticulously cared-for for over a century by the same family. There is some roughness to the finish, that is either the original shellac / waxed finish (Martin offered this as an option at the time for those customers that didn't like their latest semigloss satin finish), or furniture polish used at some point in it's life. Either way, it still looks great! There is a twist in the neck, and it would benefit from a neck reset - we've chosen to leave it as is to preserve originality, and it plays fantastically as-is. A wonderful time capsule Martin with a fascinating history. Includes non-original case.
