Available at Acoustic Centre Melbourne

A one-of-a-kind Martin Custom Shop guitar, this 00 Slope Shoulder was designed during a personal visit by Acoustic Centre staff to the legendary Martin factory in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, with every piece of timber chosen by hand from Martin's finest tonewood inventory. Inspired by the CEO-7 and built on the evocative 00 Grand Concert Slope Shoulder body shape, this instrument carries in its very form the spirit of the finest pre-war Martin flat-tops - intimate, warm, and possessed of a tonal character that rewards a lighter touch with the kind of bloom and expressiveness that only the very best small-body acoustics can provide. The Adirondack spruce top, braced with Golden Era scalloped Adirondack spruce braces shaped by hand, sits over a premium-grade quilted mahogany back and sides - a rare and visually arresting selection that combines the warm, focused tonal signature of mahogany with the extraordinary three-dimensional figure of the grain pattern.

The hand-applied Chris Hillman Burst finish - a glowing, luminous top colour that deepens and warms the natural beauty of the Adirondack spruce - gives this guitar a visual drama that is as impossible to ignore as its tonal character. Guatemalan rosewood binding, fingerboard, and bridge, Old Style 18 select abalone fingerboard inlays, Grover StaTite vintage button tuners, a Style 18 black maple fiber rosette, and bone nut and saddle complete a specification that honours Martin's most cherished pre-war traditions with incredible modern build quality.

Features

  • Adirondack spruce top with Golden Era scalloped Adirondack X-bracing, hand-shaped, produces the stiff, resonant, and brilliantly responsive tonal platform that represents the pinnacle of acoustic guitar top construction.
  • Premium-grade quilted mahogany back and sides deliver a warm, focused, and beautifully woody tonal character, with the extraordinarily rare quilted figure making this one of the most visually distinctive mahogany sets Martin has ever worked with.
  • Hand-applied Chris Hillman Burst glows with a luminous warmth that deepens across the grain of the Adirondack spruce, giving this guitar a visual presence as striking as any instrument in Martin's history.
  • Guatemalan rosewood binding, fingerboard, and bridge with Old Style 18 select abalone fingerboard inlays reflect Martin's finest vintage decorative tradition, applied to a tonewood combination of genuine rarity and beauty.
