The Martin D-41 is one of the most beautifully appointed and tonally distinguished guitars in the Standard Series - a dreadnought that brings the broad, powerful voice of the D-28 lineage together with abalone pearl appointments that elevate it firmly into heirloom territory. Introduced in 1969, the D-41 has represented Martin's considered approach to bringing genuine luxury appointments to the dreadnought format without sacrificing the tonal authority and playing credentials that the platform is celebrated for. This 2001 example carries the pre-Reimagined specification - solid Sitka spruce top with solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, Low Profile mahogany neck with 1-11/16" nut width, non-scalloped standard X-bracing, enclosed gold tuners, and black pickguard - offering the classic D-41 experience in the traditional specification that defined the model through the pre-2017 era.

The abalone appointments throughout - abalone with multi-stripe rosette, abalone with multi-stripe top edge inlay, and abalone hexagon fingerboard inlays - give the D-41 a quietly luxurious visual presence that distinguishes it immediately from the D-28 while remaining tasteful and understated. Ebony fingerboard and bridge, white body binding, Style 45 back purfling, and rosewood headplate with raised gold foil logo complete a specification that is as refined in its cosmetic presentation as it is authoritative in its acoustic performance. Ideal for discerning players, Martin collectors, and anyone who wants a beautifully appointed pre-Reimagined D-41 with the classic Martin dreadnought voice in a traditional specification.

This 2001-built guitar is in great condition, with light playwear and a beautifully aged top. It's had a recent neck reset and refret, and is playing wonderfully. The tone is stunning - rich, deep and complex, with incredible harmonics and a huge amount of headroom. I love the look of these pre-Reimagined D-41's, and this one is aged just enough t ogive it some real vintage vibe. Includes original hardshell case.
