The Martin OM-42 is one of the most beautiful and best-balanced guitars in the Martin catalogue. It pairs the Orchestra Model body with Style 42 pearl detailing and a long 25.4" scale length, which gives a strong yet balanced voice with deep bass, articulate trebles, and complex overtones. A solid Sitka spruce top over solid East Indian rosewood back and sides produces the classic spruce and rosewood tone, resonant and clear with excellent note separation. Ideal for fingerstyle players, flatpickers, and recording artists who want an ornate but genuinely functional instrument.

This 2002 example carries the full Style 42 treatment: an abalone and multi-stripe rosette, abalone top inlay that outlines the fingerboard extension, Style 42 snowflake inlays on the ebony fingerboard, and antique white binding. Scalloped X-bracing, a hand-fit dovetail neck joint, and a sleek mahogany Modified Low Oval neck with a 1-3/4" nut keep it comfortable through long playing sessions. Bone nut and saddle, an ebony belly bridge, an East Indian rosewood headplate, and gold open-gear tuners with butterbean knobs complete the specification.

This beautiful guitar is in great condition, with some light playwear throughout but no significant dings or scratches. It sounds open and well played-in, with incredible bass response and limitless headroom. The OM-42 is one of our absolute all-time favourites, and this is yet another reminder of why they're so revered. Includes original hardshell case.
