AUSTRALIA'S #1 ACOUSTIC GUITAR SPECIALIST
AUSTRALIA'S #1 ACOUSTIC GUITAR SPECIALIST
This 1975 Masaru Kohno No. 20 is a beautifully crafted example from one of Japan’s most respected classical guitar luthiers. Built in Tokyo during Kohno’s lifetime, this instrument reflects his dedication to traditional craftsmanship, offering a refined playing experience with exceptional balance and clarity. Featuring a solid spruce top paired with rosewood back and sides, it produces a clean, articulate voice where every note is clearly defined - ideal for players who value precision and separation in their tone.
With its slightly shorter 640mm scale length, this Kohno No. 20 offers a more comfortable feel under the fingers compared to standard classical guitars, making it easier to play while adding a touch of warmth to its tonal response. A mahogany neck with a slim-medium D profile ensures smooth playability, while the ebony fingerboard and bridge contribute to its responsive feel and tonal depth.
This 1975-built guitar is in good condition for it's age, with plenty of playwear to the body and top and the occasional lacquer-level ding. The rosewood is beautifully figured, and while I can't say for sure I believe it's likely Brazilian Rosewood - it certainly has the bell-like tone that I'd expect from BRW! This is a fabulous sounding and playing classical guitar that punches well above it's weight. Includes hardshell case.
