The Maton SRS808 Cedar is a variation on the standard 808 series guitars, offering one of the sweetest toned timber combinations available. As always, Maton offer All solid wood construction. The SRS808 uses a Western Red Cedar top in combination with Victorian Blackwood back and sides. Cedar as a soundboard delivers incredibly complex tones that have more depth and overtones than traditional spruce. Favoured by fingerpickers for its warmth and tonal breadth, Cedar is one of the finest tonewoods available and is not often found on production line guitars. Combining this with its solid Blackwood back and sides we get warm, full tone with beautiful mid frequency response and complexity.
Maton have redesigned the internal bracing pattern for the SRS808, using a forward shifting of the X braces and the shifting of the scallop peaks so as to further enhance the resonance and responsiveness of the top. The result is a full, open, lower frequency response as well as a crisp, well-defined treble response. The sounds that come from this guitar defy its body size. It is a truly unique instrument within the Maton Guitar range and constantly surpasses players' expectations when they pick it up to play.
On-board AP5 Pro pickup system delivers the ultimate pickup system utilising both a piezo transducer under the bridge in combination with a condenser mic located inside the soundhole. You can isolate or blend both systems to deliver every nuance of your playing to a live audience. Onboard tonal controls allow further tonal refinement
