The Maton Troubadour Dreadnought is Acoustic Centre’s own label that distils everything Maton does best into a series designed specifically for the working musician - a powerful, stage-ready acoustic-electric built entirely in Maton’s Box Hill workshop from the same tonewoods and electronics that have defined Australian acoustic guitar making for more than seven decades. This Custom example takes the standard Troubadour Dreadnought specification and brings it to life in a full body satin black finish with white binding and white pickguard - a stark, elegant visual combination that gives this instrument an immediately distinctive character entirely its own, while the satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish ensures that both tone and feel remain as natural and uninhibited as possible.

The solid Sitka spruce top with scalloped Maton X-bracing provides the clear, projecting, and dynamically versatile tonal foundation that makes the dreadnought body format so enduring for singer-songwriters and live performers - responsive to both light fingerpicking and full strumming with equal tonal authority and natural presence. Solid Queensland Maple back and sides deliver the bright, clear, and well-defined tonal character that Maton has championed as Australia’s most distinctive acoustic tonewood since the 1960s - articulate, balanced, and naturally projecting with a string separation and clarity that rosewood and mahogany-bodied guitars cannot replicate. Maton’s AP5 Pro pickup system - widely regarded as the finest acoustic-electric pickup system available in a production guitar - combines an internal microphone and six-piezo bridge input with independent blend controls and a sweepable mid-EQ preamp to deliver the most natural, nuanced, and controllable amplified acoustic tone of any pickup at any price point. Streaky ebony fingerboard and bridge, mahogany neck, gold Grover Rotomatic tuners, bone nut and saddle, and Maton hardshell case complete a specification of genuine quality and considered Australian craftsmanship. Ideal for gigging singer-songwriters, studio musicians, and performers who want the definitive Australian acoustic-electric voice in a visually striking custom finish.
