Handbuilt by Melbourne luthier Peter Grubb in his Alphington workshop, this PG Guitars SJ (Small Jumbo) pairs a tightly-grained Master Grade Sitka spruce top with dramatically flamed Master Grade Tasmanian blackwood back and sides. The result is a responsive, dynamic instrument with enough headroom for confident strumming yet sensitive enough for the gentlest fingerpicking, with rich harmonics and a firm but balanced low end.
An African mahogany neck, ebony fretboard, bridge, binding and bridge pins, and a Birdseye maple headplate and rosette give the SJ a refined, cohesive look, with brass-inlaid position markers and bridge pins adding a distinctive detail. A 14-fret neck join and a compound 12"-20" fretboard radius keep chording comfortable while accommodating adventurous playing higher up the neck, making this one-of-a-kind build ideal for players after a genuinely handmade Australian instrument.
