Emerald X20 Baritone ‘Carbon Black’ Carbon Fibre Preowned 2024

The Emerald X20 Baritone is one of the most genuinely innovative baritone acoustic-electrics produced anywhere in the world - a hand-built Irish instrument from Emerald Guitars of County Donegal whose one-piece carbon fibre construction, ergonomic body design, and HyVibe smart guitar electronics represent a fundamentally different approach to the baritone acoustic guitar than anything the traditional luthery world offers. Built using the same aerospace and motorsport-inspired carbon fibre construction philosophy that Emerald has refined across more than two decades of guitar making, the X20 Baritone takes the X20 body platform - already celebrated for its ergonomics, projection, and weather resistance - and extends it with a 27" baritone scale length and an offset soundhole design specifically tuned to accentuate the bass frequencies and deeper voice that lower baritone tunings require.

This example is finished in Carbon Black with standard carbon weave, and is currently set up for alternate tunings - making it immediately playable for drop, open, or extended-range applications without further adjustment. The HyVibe smart guitar system is what truly distinguishes this instrument from any other baritone acoustic-electric: rather than a conventional undersaddle or soundhole pickup, HyVibe uses internal actuators bonded to the underside of the carbon fibre top to transform the soundboard itself into a speaker membrane. A piezo sensor captures the string signal, a high-speed processor applies effects and amplification, and the actuators vibrate the top directly - producing a self-amplifying acoustic-electric experience without a separate amp, cable, or pedal rig. Built-in effects include reverb, chorus, delay, octaver, tremolo, phaser, and distortion, plus an onboard looper and Bluetooth speaker function for streaming backing tracks or audio from any device. The system is app-controlled, firmware-upgradeable, rechargeable via USB-C, and provides over 10 hours of battery life - with a standard jack output also available for conventional amplified use. The one-piece moulded carbon fibre neck and body construction eliminates neck joints, providing uninterrupted resonance, exceptional sustain, and complete immunity to humidity and temperature. Gotoh 510 black tuners at 18:1 ratio, 21 medium stainless steel frets Plek’d to perfection, 16" fingerboard radius, asymmetric rib and forearm bevels, fully adjustable carbon fibre bridge, Graphtech low-friction nut and saddle, and TKL hard case complete a specification of extraordinary capability.

This rarely-seen 2024-built guitar is in fantastic condition, with barely any sign of playwear and a great slinky action. It sounds enormous, with an open, clear and rich tonality that instantly expands your playing. It's currently set up with standard acoustic strings in open D, and it's magical for open tunings, as well as it's intended baritone tuning! Includes original hardshell case.

Features

• HyVibe smart guitar system transforms the carbon fibre top into a self-amplifying speaker membrane via internal actuators - delivering onboard effects (reverb, chorus, delay, octaver, tremolo, phaser, distortion), looper, and Bluetooth streaming with no amp, cable, or pedal rig required. Standard jack output also available.
• One-piece moulded carbon fibre neck and body construction eliminates neck joints entirely, providing uninterrupted resonance, exceptional sustain, and structural stability completely immune to humidity, temperature, and travel conditions that affect conventional timber instruments.
• 27" baritone scale length with Emerald’s original offset soundhole design - specifically calibrated to accentuate bass frequencies - delivers the deep, powerful, and projecting acoustic voice suited to lower baritone tunings and extended-range playing styles. Currently set up for alternate tunings.
• HyVibe system is app-controlled, firmware-upgradeable, rechargeable via USB-C, and provides over 10 hours of battery life per charge - a future-proof and genuinely evolving performance instrument.
• Gotoh 510 black tuners at 18:1 ratio, 21 medium stainless steel frets Plek’d to perfection, asymmetric rib and forearm bevels, extended upper-fret access, and fully adjustable carbon fibre bridge reflect Emerald’s ergonomic and performance-focused design philosophy throughout.
