The Santa Cruz OO Skye is a deeply personal and tonally exceptional instrument - a signature model developed in close collaboration between Portland-based jazz guitarist Eric Skye and Santa Cruz Guitar Company founder Richard Hoover, designed specifically to match Skye's distinct playing personality and the exacting technical demands of the most sophisticated acoustic jazz fingerstyle performance. Eric Skye has been recognised by 20th Century Guitar Magazine as one of the best rising stars of the American acoustic jazz scene - a hardworking, dramatically expressive live performer whose playing demands an instrument of uncommon sensitivity, accuracy, and tonal sophistication. This OO delivers exactly that.

The cocobolo back and sides are the defining tonal and visual statement of the OO Skye - one of the most prized and visually spectacular tonewoods in fine guitar making, with a natural oil content and density that produces a uniquely focused, complex, and musically detailed voice with exceptional sustain and a natural resonance that rewards the most nuanced fingerstyle playing. The Adirondack spruce top with Adirondack braces bonded with hot hide glue and scalloped bracing provides the immediate, powerful, and tonally expansive response that Adirondack is uniquely capable of - stiff, responsive, and naturally projecting in a way that no other spruce can replicate. The deeper body than a standard OO adds bass response and volume, while the 12-fret neck join shifts the bridge position for enhanced midrange assertiveness. The 24.9" scale length, V neck profile, and 1-13/16" nut width are precisely calibrated for jazz fingerstyle comfort and accuracy. Ivoroid binding with side purfles, herringbone purfling, ivoroid rosette, cocobolo headstock overlay and neck stripe, slotted peghead with ivoroid binding, and Nickel Waverly tuners with ivoroid buttons complete an instrument of extraordinary visual coherence and tonal purpose.
