The Santa Cruz Tony Rice Signature Model reflects more than three decades of collaboration between Richard Hoover and one of the most influential flatpickers in history. Designed to match the clarity, responsiveness, and articulation required for Tony’s legendary lead work, this guitar delivers focused power with exceptional note separation. Its voice carries the lineage of giants — from Clarence White’s punchy rhythm to Tony’s jazz-infused phrasing — offering a sophisticated, contemporary take on the classic dreadnought sound.

Crafted with Indian rosewood and Sitka spruce, the TR Model balances shimmering highs, a warm yet controlled low end, and a strong midrange ideal for rapid single-note runs. Scalloped bracing enhances the guitar’s projection and dynamic sensitivity, while the traditional V-neck carve and premium appointments provide a refined feel that suits advanced players and dedicated flatpickers. This is a powerhouse dreadnought built to inspire demanding musicians.

This 2016-built guitar is in incredible condition, with minimal playwear aside from pick scratches to the pickguard and a few very minor lacquer-level dings on the body. It's a powerhouse dreadnought, with deep, piano-like bass and incredible projection. The ultimate bluegrass machine! Includes original hardshell case.
