Available at Acoustic Centre Melbourne

Barry Kerr has been building acoustic guitars since 1984, refining traditional construction methods over three decades to produce instruments that are beautiful, durable and rich in tone and volume. Specialising in smaller-sized guitars, his forward-thinking designs have produced some genuinely phenomenal-sounding instruments, built right here in Australia. Barry no longer takes commissions for his work, which makes this guitar all the more special.

This 1993 custom-built 000 model is a fabulous early example of Kerr's craftsmanship and attention to detail. A tightly grained redwood soundboard pairs with beautifully figured Australian blackwood back, sides and neck for a rich, earthy tone with plenty of natural compression and sparkling harmonics. A Gidgee fretboard, traditional lacquer finish and rope purfling round out the premium detailing, and it's ideal for players seeking a genuinely unique small-body guitar with high-end timbers and decades of playing character already built in.
