The Yamaha LL56 Custom ARE is the flagship of Yamaha’s L Series - a meticulously handcrafted acoustic guitar built one by one by master luthiers at Yamaha’s legendary Japanese facility using only the finest hand-selected materials, and the instrument that most completely represents Yamaha’s accumulated decades of guitar manufacturing expertise and innovation. The LL56 Custom is the guitar that serious players who know Yamaha reach for when they want the company’s finest work - a specification that rivals anything produced by the world’s most celebrated acoustic guitar workshops, delivered with the consistency, quality control, and material selection that only Yamaha’s unique combination of master craftsmanship and world-class manufacturing infrastructure can achieve.

The defining tonal innovation of the LL56 Custom ARE is Yamaha’s proprietary A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement) treatment applied to the solid Engelmann spruce top - a process that thermally and chemically modifies the cellular structure of the wood to replicate the acoustic properties of aged tonewoods, producing a top that delivers the warmth, openness, and harmonic richness of a decades-old instrument from the very first note. Solid Indian rosewood back and sides contribute the deep, complex, and brilliantly projecting tonal character that makes rosewood the benchmark back and sides material for jumbo acoustic guitar construction, while a modified non-scalloped bracing design retains the L Series’ characteristic brightness while enhancing low-end response and warmth. The 5-ply mahogany and rosewood neck with volute and rosewood veneer on the back of the headstock provides extraordinary stability and tonal coupling, while ebony fingerboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle, abalone and wood rosette, abalone and maple and stained wood body binding, die-cast gold tuners, tortoiseshell pickguard, and gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish complete a flagship specification of genuine luxury and considered refinement.

This 2023-built guitar is in superb condition, with minimal playwear and a great medium action. It sounds enormous, and perfectly exemplifies Yamaha's famous clarity and sustain, with incredible harmonic depth and a responsiveness. We don't see too many of these higher-end Yamahas on the used market, but this is a wonderful example of the craftsmanship and tonality that makes them so sought-after. Comes with Yamaha original hardshell case.

Features

  • Solid Engelmann spruce top treated with Yamaha’s proprietary A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement) technology - a thermal and chemical wood modification process that replicates the cellular changes of natural ageing, delivering the warmth, openness, and harmonic richness of a decades-old instrument from day one.
  • Solid Indian rosewood back and sides deliver the deep, complex, and brilliantly projecting tonal character that makes rosewood the benchmark material for jumbo acoustic guitar construction - full-bodied, harmonically rich, and naturally articulate across the complete tonal range.
  • Modified non-scalloped bracing design retains the L Series’ characteristic brightness and clarity while enhancing low-end response - a considered evolution of Yamaha’s bracing philosophy that gives the LL56 Custom exceptional tonal balance across the Original Jumbo body’s substantial acoustic platform.
  • 5-ply mahogany and rosewood neck with volute, rosewood headstock veneer, and ebony fingerboard and bridge provide exceptional structural stability, tonal coupling, and playing comfort across the 44mm nut width and 650mm scale length.
  • Abalone and wood rosette, abalone and maple and stained wood body binding, and gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish reflect the LL56 Custom’s flagship aesthetic appointments - handcrafted details of genuine luxury that reflect the master luthier attention applied to every element of the instrument.
