The Taylor Next Generation 714ce pairs a Western red cedar top with Indian rosewood back and sides under the updated Scalloped V-Class bracing system, producing a guitar with a warm, intimate character and exceptional tonal depth. Cedar is less dense than spruce, making it highly responsive to light touch and well suited to fingerstyle playing, while rosewood's extended frequency range brings powerful lows and bell-like treble clarity with a slightly scooped midrange that works beautifully for solo performance and vocal accompaniment. The Scalloped V-Class bracing adds a more muscular bass response and warmer resonance to the V-Class formula while retaining the signature pitch accuracy, sustain, and note-to-note definition that made the original system so widely adopted.

Taylor's Claria under-saddle electronics system delivers clean, accurate acoustic tone through a purpose-built preamp designed to eliminate piezo distortion and unwanted frequencies from the outset. Soundhole-mounted Volume, Tone, and Mid-Contour controls allow quick shaping without interrupting performance, and the system requires minimal setup to sound natural and present through any PA. The Action Control neck joint allows string height to be adjusted with a single bolt, making setup and long-term maintenance straightforward, while the long-tenon design adds stiffness and low-end resonance to every note. Taylor Gold tuners, a faux tortoise pickguard, white body binding, and Meridian inlays on the Crelicam ebony fingerboard complete a well-appointed instrument suited to fingerstyle players and singer-songwriters who want genuine tonal complexity and reliable stage performance.
