AUSTRALIA'S #1 ACOUSTIC GUITAR SPECIALIST
AUSTRALIA'S #1 ACOUSTIC GUITAR SPECIALIST
This exceptional 1924 Martin 0-28 represents one of the finest examples of Martin’s pre-war craftsmanship, built during the golden era of small-body steel-string acoustics. Featuring an Adirondack Spruce top paired with pitch-black Brazilian rosewood back and sides, this instrument delivers remarkable clarity, warmth, and projection well beyond its compact 0-size body. The lightly built top and century-old timbers contribute to a lively, articulate response with rich overtones and superb dynamic sensitivity, making it equally inspiring for fingerstyle and light flatpicking.
Adding to its provenance, this guitar was originally shipped to LF Collins of Melbourne in November 1924 and later owned for decades by respected Australian guitarist and teacher Bob Irvine. After sustaining historical damage many years ago, it underwent a comprehensive, professional restoration by renowned luthier Gary Rizzolo, coordinated by Chris Voce, with consultation from TJ Thompson. The work was carried out with sympathetic attention to period correctness and long-term structural integrity, preserving the soul of the instrument while ensuring outstanding playability today. It shows plenty of wear as you'd expect from a guitar over a century old, but it plays wonderfully and sounds otherworldly! Housed in a premium Hoffee case, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a fully playable pre-war Brazilian Rosewood Martin with documented history and expert restoration.
