The Martin D-28 is the most celebrated and widely imitated acoustic guitar in history - the instrument against which all large-bodied steel-string flat-tops are measured, and a benchmark of American craftsmanship that has remained essentially unchanged in its fundamental character since the mid-1930s. This 2014 example represents the pre-Reimagined D-28 specification - the classic, time-proven formula of solid Sitka spruce top, solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, standard non-forward-shifted X-bracing, Low Profile neck with 1-11/16" nut width, and enclosed tuning machines that defined the D-28 for decades before the 2017 redesign. For players who prefer the traditional D-28 neck feel and bracing placement, this pre-2017 specification is precisely the guitar they are looking for.

The tonal authority of the D-28 needs little introduction - a broad, powerful, and resonantly balanced acoustic voice with strong bass, clear trebles, and the kind of natural projection that fills any room without amplification. Equally at home in bluegrass, country, folk, blues, and beyond, the D-28 has been the instrument of choice for so many defining artists across so many genres that its cultural significance is simply impossible to overstate.

This 2014-built guitar is in wonderful condition, with minimal playwear and a gloriously-aged top. There's a few small areas of lacquer crazing, and lacquer-level polishing swirls throughout as you'd expect from a guitar over a decade old, but it's clearly been very well looked-after. It sounds fantastic too, with amazing headroom and balance and classic deep, rich Martin tone. An all-time classic in every sense! Includes original hardshell case.
