The Pisgah Possum is a respected open-back 5-string banjo from Pisgah Banjo Company, an American maker known for building quality instruments at accessible price points without compromising on tone or playability. The Possum model is Pisgah's entry-level offering and is widely regarded as one of the best value open-back banjos available - well-suited to old-time, clawhammer, and frailing styles, where an open-back construction is the traditional and tonally preferred choice. Ideal for old-time and folk musicians, clawhammer players, and banjo beginners who want a quality American-made instrument with genuine tonal character rather than a mass-produced budget alternative.
This beautiful handmade banjo is in wonderful condition, with light playwear and some gentle patina on the chrome hardware. It's currently strung with nylon strings, making it a warm, sweet and tonally rich instrument with a darker and less punchy tone than usual. That said, you could always restring it with some more traditional banjo strings for a classic old-time banjo tone. Includes original hardshell case and Deering padded gig bag!
